What “Torkka certified” means
Every used forklift goes through the same inspection checklist, and the result of each point is written on the machine's page:
- Working hours, read from the hour meter.
- Battery: for lithium, the actual capacity left; for lead-acid, its condition.
- Mast, chains and forks.
- Brakes and steering.
- Hydraulics and leaks.
- Tyres.
- Safety.
- Real photos and a PDF report for each machine.
Warranty. Written on each machine's page. For businesses, the warranty is the one set out in the contract for each machine. For consumers, the Portuguese legal guarantee for used goods applies: three years, which the parties may reduce to 18 months by agreement (Decree-Law 84/2021, Article 12(3)); at Torkka, that agreement is always in writing. We do not promise more than what is written.

What to check on a used forklift
Whoever you buy from, a used forklift is worth what these seven checks show:
- Hours on the meter and the maintenance history, with invoices. Without a history, the hour count means little.
- The battery, if it is electric: technology (lead-acid or lithium), age, remaining capacity and condition of the cells. With a worn lead-acid battery, replacement can weigh heavily on the price; ask for a quote before closing.
- Mast, chains and forks: play, wear and cracks. Worn forks reduce capacity.
- The capacity plate and the load chart, legible and consistent with the mast and attachments fitted.
- Documentation: declaration of conformity, CE marking, instruction manual in Portuguese and the reports of the latest inspections. Portuguese Decree-Law 50/2005 (Articles 6 and 7) requires keeping the latest report and those of the two previous years.
- Warranty: whether there is one, who gives it, for how long and what it covers. In a private sale or at auction, check whether there is any.
- Parts and service: whether parts are still available for the make and model, and who provides service in your area.
What counts in the trade-in value
For a trade-in, the value of your forklift comes from the same assessment. We do not give values by phone or from a table: the proposal is in writing and depends on each machine.
- The hours on the meter and the year of the forklift.
- The condition of the battery: for lithium, the capacity it still has; for lead-acid, the age and the condition of the cells.
- The mast, the chains and the forks.
- The tyres.
- The documentation: manual, declaration of conformity and inspection reports.
- The photos you send us and, if you go ahead, our inspection.
Would you rather have a new forklift? A new lithium electric forklift starts at €17,530 excl. VAT. On the FE and V models, with configurator, the warranty is the manufacturer's current condition: 12 months or 2,000 hours, confirmed in each proposal.
Frequently asked questions
Do you already have used forklifts for sale?
Not yet. When an inspected machine comes in, we publish its page with real photos, the PDF report and the price excluding VAT. If you join the waiting list, we email you when a matching one comes in.
How does the trade-in of my forklift work?
You send the make, model, year, hours and photos. We review them and make a written offer, which is deducted from the price of the new forklift. The offer does not commit you to anything.
Do you take diesel or LPG forklifts in trade?
Yes. We value electric, diesel and LPG forklifts. The value depends on the machine, the hours and the condition seen in the photos and the inspection.
