Electric forklift for cold stores
All seven UN lithium models can be fitted with the battery heating option. Operating and charging temperature limits are confirmed in writing in the quotation, before you reserve.
UN’s cold option: battery heating
Below freezing, a lithium battery may accept less charging current. For cold work, UN offers a lithium battery heating option, priced on all seven models in our range. The table shows each model’s base version with this option.

What the brochure says and what the quotation confirms
UN’s FE series brochure mentions battery heating during charging down to −20 °C. That does not mean heating is standard, or that charging at that temperature is allowed anywhere. We do not publish operating or charging temperature limits until UN has confirmed them for the chosen configuration.
So for a cold store request, the written quotation confirms, before you reserve:
- the minimum operating and charging temperature of the battery and charger;
- how long the truck can stay inside the cold room without a break;
- whether the hydraulic oil and lubricants suit that temperature;
- what to do about frequent trips between the cold room and the loading bay, where condensation can form.

Measure the door and the aisle before you choose
In cold rooms, doors and aisles are often tighter than in the rest of the warehouse. Compare these FE series dimensions with the lowest door and the narrowest aisle the truck has to get through:

With the 4.5 m triplex, the lowered mast height becomes 2,145 mm on the 2.5 t and 2,160 mm on the 3 t and 3.5 t, according to the mast table. What to tell us in your request
- The cold room temperature (chilled or frozen) and how long the truck stays inside on each shift.
- Where you will charge the battery and the temperature there.
- The height of the lowest door and the width of the narrowest aisle.
- The weight of the heaviest pallet and the height of the top shelf: see residual capacity by height (PT).
- The floor: ice, water, any slope at the door threshold.
- Working hours per day and the breaks when you can charge: see charging during breaks (PT).

Can a lithium forklift work in a freezer room?
It can be configured for the cold: UN offers a lithium battery heating option for an extra €610 excl. VAT on all seven models. UN’s brochure mentions heating during charging down to −20 °C, but the operating and charging limits for your cold room are confirmed in writing in the quotation, before you reserve.
How much does an electric forklift for a cold store cost?
In our range, the base version with battery heating costs from €21,010 to €25,600 excl. VAT, depending on the model. If the operator spends long periods in the cold, an enclosed cab adds €2,730 excl. VAT, and cab heating can be added to the cab.
What door height does a cold store forklift need?
On the FE series with the 3 m duplex mast, the lowered mast measures 2,050 to 2,070 mm and the overhead guard 2,200 to 2,225 mm, according to UN’s brochure. Allow clearance and confirm the height with the mast, cab and attachments of your configuration.
Where should a cold store forklift battery be charged?
In a place whose temperature is within the charging limits confirmed for the battery and charger. Do not assume the cold room can be the charging area; tell us in your request where you will charge.
